BOTSWANA

From Chobe National park the 50 km road to the Caprivi is in an excellent condition. This make it possible to fly to Francistown, overnight in Marang Gardens Hotel and drive in one day to Kwando Camp a luxury lodge in the Caprivi in Namibia. If you continue your tour through Namibia be aware that you will be forst to cover some good gravel roads. Along the Skeleton coast you will trave on a salt road to Cape Cross Lodge north of Swakopmund and Hentiesbay.
SOUTH AFRICA
The road from Francistown to south africa a very good. you can travel in one day to Johannesburg and in the next day Colesberg where Gables Inn offers self-catering ( self contained ) accommodation halfway between Cape Town and Johannesburg. If you are on your way to the Eastern Cape province the roads to both East london and Mthata are in excellent condition.
The Regent hotel in East London and the Savoy Hotel in Mthatha is both of the same standard as the Marang Hotel in Francistown.
ZIMBABWE
Zimbabwe was known as the African country, after South Africa, with the best roads. Recent political and financial problems contributed to some deteroration of the roads but in general the main roads are still good. The road between Francistown and Victoria Falls is very good. Ilala Lodge is of the same standard as the Marang Gardens Hotel.
The road from the Marang Gardens Hotel to Kariba is good and can be cover in one day. Once in Kariba the Caribbea Bay Hotel is of the same standard as the Marang Gardens Hotel but the Cutty Sark Hotel is a more affordable hotel.
